Freshers day one
Well before I get into the details of freshers week.
Today was a day of shopping for me. Yesterday i shopped too. for food supplies. I went to my room with all sorts of cans with all sorts of goodies, I was so happy only to realise that i dont have a can openner.
Today I bought forks, knives, spoons, can openners, scissors, frying pan, sauce pan, dishes, soup bowl etc etc
day before I also bought a second hand rice cooker for 3 pounds. there was an student announcement for that.
The thing is, I walk alot here. I had loads of shopping bags and shoved some of them into my backpack so i can carry less in my hands. I actually walked to the bust station, and then on campus walked all the way to end where my building is. In bahrain I would have driven. In Egypt I would have taken a taxi. So good good good for me. on campus is the first place i ever been to where, when i ask for directions someone can say, go up the little hill then cross the bridge on the lake to the otherside then follow the path. Its amazing how much people walk around here.
Anyway, today is the first day of fresher's week. Well, any new comers get a warm welcome of well 9 days of day tours and live events, comdey shows and parties before they start studying. fantastic. I am more interested in the day events touring and the comedy club though...
Anyway, the freshers week started today at 5. I was on my way to the union to get tickets to the highlands tour before they are sold out when someone tapped me on the shoulder. and a lady said "ramadan mubarak" . I was honestly touched. I probably wont see her again coz she was on campus for a conference. but it was nice, she lived in oman for 7 years.
I went to the studion union got the tickets, met a girl and went out in the fresh air where there was a game of hmmm outdoor bowling. quite interesting. I normally stink but today i did well. THREE STRIKES, TWO OF THEM IN A ROW.. YIPEEEE... LOOK AT ME NOW, ALL THOSE PEOPLE WHO DIDNT WANT ME ON THEIR BOWLING TEAMS BEFORE.
After that, had dinner. there were two options really. an accoustic edinburgh gig from 8 to 3. or a disko thingy from 10 to three. I picked the accousitc edinburgh gig.. It was fantastic.. excellent musicians, good music. and I even got a free CD.
Great evening, they were done by 12 . On my way back to the dorm I lost my way. but that was alright coz i met another person who lost her way. and we managed lol
Tired tired tired.
see ya tomorrow...
Happy ramadan. Ramadan here starts tomorrow
